The Hackney House name was derived from the namesake of Pabst Farms, Fredrick Pabst. In 1906, Fredrick Pabst, the then-President of Pabst Brewing Company, acquired his first parcel of land in Oconomowoc for his family’s farm. This land site would eventually house Fredrick Pabst’s growing collection of horses. His favorite horse, Sir Chamberlain, was a Hackney Horse, originally bred in northern England. Hackney House pays homage to this much beloved animal.
